Prototyping Prosthetics: Reimagining the Elementary Engineering Design Process
Thursday April 30, 2026 10:15am - 11:00am CDT
Trade in desks for lab coats! This immersive session transforms elementary students into bioengineers through a project-based medical simulation. Discover a workflow that navigates the "Engineering Design Process," challenging young learners to solve complex anatomical problems for their stuffed animal patients using 3D printing. This approach ensures students engage in multiple areas of research and design.

This demonstration shows how to seamlessly integrate multimodal technology—including Apple Pages, Merge EDU, and Tinkercad—leading up to the final 3D fabrication of functional prosthetics, offering a true Universal Design for Learning (UDL) experience.

Participants will explore the technical scaffolding needed to move students from initial patient assessment annotations to the slicing and printing of custom-fit, bio-mechanical prototypes. Join us to receive digital "medical files" that bridge the gap between empathetic storytelling and cutting-edge classroom innovation.

Birds of a Feather- High Ability Learners
Thursday April 30, 2026 2:00pm - 2:30pm CDT
Birds of A Feather - Educator’s Remix: High Ability (HAL) Jam Session Why just listen when you can collaborate? Step into The Educator’s Remix, a high-energy Birds of a Feather session designed for K-12 educators who are ready to swap the lecture for the roundtable. Think of this as a creative "jam session" where your classroom expertise is the lead instrument.

We’re breaking down the silos and remixing our collective knowledge across the hottest tracks in HAL today. Grab a seat at the table that sparks your interest and dive into raw, honest, and practical discussions on:
  • Rule 3: How are we prepared for upcoming changes?
  • The App/Resource Flip: Rapid-fire sharing of the tools actually saving us time.
  • Breaking Barriers: Honest talk on equity, access, and hurdles.
  • The Wildcard: Open space for the trends you're seeing in your HAL classroom right now.
No slides, no scripts—just real talk, fresh ideas, and a chance to build your professional playlist. Come ready to share your "greatest hits," meet and connect with new classroom artists, and leave with a remix of new strategies to try at school on Monday!

Girls Who Code
Thursday April 30, 2026 2:45pm - 3:30pm CDT
I am excited to share a program I am hosting called Girls Who Code, a club dedicated to introducing girls to coding skills and opportunities in STEM. Girls Who Code is a national organization working to close the gender gap in technology by providing free lessons, activities, and resources that make coding accessible and fun. By partnering with them, I am able to use a ready-made curriculum to bring meaningful coding experiences to students in our school.
