Assistive Technology Playground with the ATP Education Team
Thursday April 30, 2026 8:30am - 4:00pm CDT
Assistive Technology Playground with the ATP Education Team
Step right up to the Supportive and Assistive Technology Playground! We have created a hands-on space where you can explore and play with tools that helps students access learning, communicate, and participate more fully in the classroom.

This isn’t a sit-and-listen session. It’s your chance to touch it, try it, and see it in action. Test out tools that support reading, writing, communication, access, and independence, and discover ideas you can take straight back to your classroom or IEP team.

At the playground you can:
·       Try tools that support reading and writing
·       Explore communication and AAC supports
·       Test switches, access tools, and alternative input
·       Get quick ideas for matching tools to student needs
·       Chat with AT specialists and ask all your “How would this work for my student?” questions

Whether you're AT-curious or AT-savvy, come wander through, try something new, and leave with ideas that can help students access, participate, and succeed.

Come play with us!

Prototyping Prosthetics: Reimagining the Elementary Engineering Design Process
Thursday April 30, 2026 10:15am - 11:00am CDT
Trade in desks for lab coats! This immersive session transforms elementary students into bioengineers through a project-based medical simulation. Discover a workflow that navigates the "Engineering Design Process," challenging young learners to solve complex anatomical problems for their stuffed animal patients using 3D printing. This approach ensures students engage in multiple areas of research and design.

This demonstration shows how to seamlessly integrate multimodal technology—including Apple Pages, Merge EDU, and Tinkercad—leading up to the final 3D fabrication of functional prosthetics, offering a true Universal Design for Learning (UDL) experience.

Participants will explore the technical scaffolding needed to move students from initial patient assessment annotations to the slicing and printing of custom-fit, bio-mechanical prototypes. Join us to receive digital "medical files" that bridge the gap between empathetic storytelling and cutting-edge classroom innovation.

CETL Certification (Certified Education Technology Leader )
Friday May 1, 2026 1:00pm - 1:45pm CDT
CETL® Certification Program
CETL® stands for Certified Education Technology Leader and represents the highest standards of excellence in the education technology industry.  The CETL® certification eligibility requirements, exam topics, and recertification requirements are based on The Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTO—representing the competencies critical to today’s education technology leaders.

** WHY & HOW to become a CETL (Certified Education Technology Leader) and all the benefits?   **
WHY:
Becoming a Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL®) validates your expertise in K-12 technology leadership, combining technical knowledge with educational vision to drive student outcomes. This premier, accredited credential enhances your professional credibility, career advancement opportunities, and networking within a community of peers, while ensuring you stay current on emerging tech trends.

Key Reasons to Become a CETL:
  • Demonstrate Leadership & Vision: Validates that you have mastered the skills needed to build 21st-century learning environments and act as a strategic leader in your district.
  • Career Advancement & Salary Increase: Data suggests that CETL-certified professionals often have better opportunities for promotion and higher salaries.
  • Professional Validation & Credibility: As the only accredited, practice-based certification for K-12 edtech leaders, it signals to superintendents and stakeholders that you meet rigorous, national standards.
  • Aligned with Best Practices: The certification is based on CoSN’s Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTO, which covers leadership, the educational environment, and technology management.
  • Networking and Community: Joining a network of over 900+ certified leaders offers access to peers for sharing best practices and troubleshooting challenges. CoSN +8
Targeted Benefits:
  • For Professionals: Confirms your expertise and helps identify areas for professional growth.
  • For Organizations: Ensures that tech leaders can effectively bridge the gap between technical infrastructure and instructional goals. CoSN +1
HOW:
To become a Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL), you must meet CoSN's eligibility requirements (typically a bachelor’s degree + 4 years of K-12 experience), pass the CETL exam covering the "Framework of Essential Skills," and adhere to a code of conduct. Certification requires renewal every three years via 60 continuing education hours. CoSN +2Steps to Become a CETL:
  • Verify Eligibility: Possess a Bachelor's degree and four years of education technology experience in a K-12 setting. Alternatively, an Associate's degree with seven years of experience is acceptable.
  • Apply for the Exam: Submit an application through the CoSN website and pay the fee ($299 for members, $499 for nonmembers).
  • Prepare for the Exam: Study the CoSN Framework of Essential Skills of the K-12 CTO, which covers leadership, educational environment, and technology management. Utilize the self-assessment toolkit or 11-module training guide.
  • Pass the Exam: The exam is a 115-question, multiple-choice, computer-based test. It can be taken at PearsonVue testing centers or via remote proctoring.
  • Maintain Certification: To retain the designation, you must complete 60 hours of continuing education every three years
